Cross Country Running Results (Oct. 2011)
Gwa'sala-Nakwaxda'xw FRIENDSHIP SOCCER TOURNAMENT: The "G" school hosted their annual friendship soccer tournament in November. Our school sent teams from all three age divisions: Grades 2/3, Grades 4/5; and Grades 6/7. School coaches are: Gr. 2/3 Mrs. MacDonald; Gr. 4/5 Mrs. Jensen; Gr. 6/7 Mr. Heller.
Cross Country Team: The District Cross Country meet occured in Sointula in mid October. Thank you to the following coaches: Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Brown and Ms. Poynter, Congratulations to the following students:
TYKE GIRLS: Rowan W. (16th), Oriana B-J. (15th); Aliya T. (14th); Isabelle K. (8th), Freddie, W. (7th), and Faith G. (2nd place).
TYKE BOYS: Angus F-P (23rd); Nathaniel S. (21st); Jayden W. (20th); Eric S. (19th); and Luke G. (3th place).
PEEWEE GIRLS: Haley J. (15th); Sydney M. (10th); and Eileah C. (2nd place).
PEEWEE BOYS: Steven W. (3rd) and Jaylon G. (2nd place).
BANTAM GIRLS: Laura Chilson (1st place).
BANTAM BOYS: Patrick Miller (1st place).
LibraryCLUB: Ms. Gunson (Teacher-Librarian) hosts library club at Eagle View Elementary School. Interested students in grades 4-7 learn to improve their understanding of library procedures and are also given leadership opportunities in establishing new displays, selecting books for the library collection, assisting with shelving procedures, and creating student versions of Reader's choices. Students assist with Book Fairs (hopefully planned for the Spring this year), literacy events, book reviews, displays, and library activities. Library Club has started!
FISHING CLUB: Mr. Barfoot is hosting his fishing club again this year. Students (grades 4-7) learn to tie knots, and skills associated with fishing. Check out the fly tying lessons every second Wednesday. Congratulations to Mr. Barfoot for being selected to travel to the St. Lawrence River and work on environmental issues beside David Suzuki and George Stromboulopoulos. What an honor for one of our teachers, our school, and our town!
