Eagle View Elementary School
Eagle View Elementary School is a gem nestled within a ring of tall evergreen and Alder trees. Bald eagles nest in nearby trees and are common sites soaring overhead. The school is located adjacent to the Little Tsulquate river at the end of Seaview Drive in Port Hardy, B.C. Our phone number is 250 949 6418. The local Tennis Courts, Swimming Pool, Arena, Civic Center, Fire Hall, Daycare, and Police Station are within a very short walking distance. In Sept. 2010 Eagle View Elementary School was amalgamated with Robert Scott Elementary School resulting in an exciting new mixture of students and staff. The school enrolls about 310 students from Kindergarten to Grade 7. There are 2 full time Kindergarten classes and one Kindergarten/Grade 1 class this year. We welcome our community and groups including Brownies and Sparks also utilize our building.
The eggs have hatched and the chicks are growing. Watch the chicks online by clicking the EVES egg cam link on the left side bar. Sometimes after school the webcam stops and you will only see a black square.

We received a lovely card and qrcode message back from DPAC. Thank you.
ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES: Lots of environmentally conscious events occur around EVES--including our annual Little Tsulquate River clean. This year there are 2 tanks of salmon (both Kindergarten classes) which will soon be released into the host rivers. Prior to releasing the Fry, It is an annual event to clean the river and help our fish get a good start in their natural environment. On April 20th many classes assisted in improving our environment. Some classes were involved in a community "Pitch in" litter clean up, a couple of primary classes planted vegetables and flowers in our EVES gardens, and Ms. Gunson and Mr. Barfoot's class cleaned up our local Little Tsulquate river. The Kindergarten classes released their Coho fry this week! Mr. Barfoot's class is also involved in school composting activities and we have an active recycling program. Mrs. Brown's class has been involved in promoting a reduction in litter around our school.
TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY STORY CONTEST: Two sets of our students have entered the Canadian Technology Story Contest which offers two grand prizes of $5,000.00 towards technology for your school. Maya and Olivia in grade 7 described a technology project they are involved in with Ms. Gunson. Emma and Elise (in grade 6) discussed the many ways technology is being utilized at our school. Good luck to our talented students. Announcements about prizes occur in mid May.
SCHOOL CLUBS: Effective late April, teachers have made the very difficult decision to end voluntary activities. As a result, clubs, extra curricular activities, and field trips beyond school hours have been cancelled. The Library Club and The Outdoors/Fishing Club have now ended. Unless other staff or parents take over, it is not anticipated there will be Track and Field practices occuring either.
NUT-FREE SCHOOL: Several students have severe life threatening allergies to all types of nuts (especially peanuts); therefore, Eagle View Elementary is a NUT FREE school. Please ensure your child does NOT bring food containing any nut products to school. Thank you.
